The increase follows rate hikes by Duke Energy and Dominion Energy, making 2024 a year when all major SC power providers received rate approval. Eddy Moore of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy criticized Santee Cooper's new demand-charge structure, arguing it unfairly penalizes customers based on peak-hour usage and won't effectively reduce overall energy consumption.
