Topical Mention
A good ozone summer in Charlotte, but we can do better
In this mention
June Blotnick, executive director of Clean Air Carolina, argues that Charlotte's unusually cool and wet summer of 2013 should not lead to complacency about air quality protections. She warns that HB 74, recently signed by Governor Pat McCrory, could undermine decades of environmental progress by requiring agencies to review policies every 10 years without additional resources. Blotnick calls for continued support of EPA efforts to reduce carbon pollution from power plants as part of President Obama's Climate Action Plan.
