Electric Futures – Albany
Albany represents the rural Southwest Georgia region of the Electric Futures pilot project.
Albany and its surrounding region have seen fewer investments in electric transportation, EV charging infrastructure, and EV and battery manufacturing than Atlanta and Savannah, Electric Futures’ other pilot cities.
Electric Futures seeks to better understand these gaps and identify how residents of Southwest Georgia can benefit from the transition to cleaner transportation, including opportunities for lower transportation costs, improved air quality, and new workforce and economic opportunities. These benefits are especially important for communities already experiencing environmental and public health challenges, including high rates of asthma and other health conditions.
SOWEGA Rising and Aunquarius Brown-Reed serve as Community Liaisons, helping ensure that local voices, experiences, and priorities guide the project.
