Utility bills have gone up dramatically in recent years and many people are wondering why. In Georgia, the primary regulator of utility bills is the Public Service Commission (PSC). This five-person body has the final say over major decisions that Georgia Power makes, such as how much they can charge customers, whether Georgia Power is approved to build new power plants (including those built to serve data centers), and how much environmental impact those plants have. The PSC is elected by the public, and two of the five seats are up for election this November.
On September 14, at 1 PM ET, SACE hosted an information webinar on the Georgia PSC – what it is, and why it is so important for Georgians to hold the PSC accountable for decisions that impact our daily lives and wallets.
