Electric Futures – Savannah

Savannah represents the Electric Futures pilot project’s coastal community.

As a major port and transportation hub, the Savannah region has experienced more than $7 billion in EV and battery manufacturing investments, creating significant opportunities for transportation electrification, workforce development, and economic growth.

Savannah’s coastal location also presents unique opportunities and challenges. As a hurricane- and flood-prone community, Savannah provides an important opportunity to explore how EVs and battery technologies can support emergency preparedness, resilience, and cleaner transportation while addressing the specific needs of coastal communities. Electric Futures seeks to better understand how residents can benefit from the region’s growing clean transportation economy and play an active role in shaping solutions that reflect Savannah’s unique transportation and resilience needs.

Azania Heyward-James serves as the Community Liaison, helping ensure that local perspectives, priorities, and experiences remain central to the project.
