Distributed Energy Manager

The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) seeks a full-time Distributed Energy Manager to support SACE’s policy and regulatory strategy. This position will focus on  working towards the addition of more deployment of low carbon resources at the distribution level of electric utility services including but not limited to solar, storage technologies, energy efficiency, electric mobility, and innovative rate and policy designs that reduce reliance on fossil fuels for energy across the southeast region.

Job Responsibilities

The Distribution Program Manager will work to implement internal and external plans to accomplish program and organizational goals. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support SACE utility work in the distributed renewables, demand management, and electric transportation space.
  • Review distributed energy programs and policies and provide insights to SACE staff and external partners.
  • Review and synthesize regulatory and other legal documents.
  • Engage with distribution utility representatives to advance programs and policies. 
  • Support public education through the communications team, including drafting blogs and articles and assisting with public webinars.
  • Additional work to support SACE’s mission to improve energy affordability through the reduction of reliance on fossil fuels across the Southeast.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Energy Sector knowledge is necessary. This includes work experience in renewable energy (particularly distributed renewable energy), customer owned storage, electric transportation (particularly managed charging), utility regulation, energy efficiency, demand-side management electric utility work, gas utility work, transmission or distribution planning, or grid management.
  • Understanding of electricity markets, decarbonization pathways, or energy transition strategies.

This is a full-time position that may be based remotely in the southeast. Salary is contingent on experience.
