Energy Analyst

The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) seeks a full-time Energy Analyst to support SACE’s policy and regulatory strategy. This includes working towards the addition of more wind, solar, and energy efficiency in utility resource portfolios and reducing reliance on fossil fuels for energy across the region.

The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is a regional, not-for-profit environmental advocacy organization that promotes responsible and equitable energy choices to ensure clean, safe, and healthy communities throughout the Southeast. As a leading voice for energy policy in our region, SACE is focused on transforming the way we produce and consume energy in the Southeast. 

Job Responsibilities 

The Energy Policy Analyst will work to implement internal and external plans to accomplish program and organizational goals. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the updates to and potential expansion of SACE’s internal database, SENFO. This database uses electricity sector data to track and report out on progress on decarbonization of electricity across the region.
  • Support SACE’s Utility Reform staff as they prepare reports, white papers, and articles
  • Analyze data and provide insights to SACE staff and external partners
  • Support public education through the communications team, including drafting blogs and articles and assisting with public webinars.
  • Support SACE’s work in the cross-section of the gas and electricity sectors in the region, including analysis of potential pipeline projects that could drive new gas power generation projects. 
  • Review and synthesize regulatory and other legal documents.
  • Additional work to support SACE’s mission to improve energy affordability through the reduction of reliance on fossil fuels across the Southeast.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Energy Sector knowledge is helpful. This includes work experience in renewable energy, utility regulation, energy efficiency, electric utility work, gas utility work, or grid management.
  • Understanding of electricity markets, decarbonization pathways, or energy transition strategies.

This is a full-time position that may be based remotely in the southeast. Salary is contingent on experience.
