Job Description

This position will support the development and implementation of a new storytelling campaign sharing successes among Southern constituencies to ensure awareness of the benefits of federally funded efforts to advance clean energy. These stories will be used to support our efforts to build, cultivate, and educate targeted constituencies throughout our region.

Responsibilities of the Creative Content Manager will include:

  • Absorbing content and writing compelling articles for SACE’s blog and media efforts.
  • Pursuing storytelling opportunities through SACE and partner-sponsored events (including home electrification tours, EV ride-and-drives, low-income energy efficiency program implementation, community-driven project launch events, etc.) as well as from identified communities and individuals.
  • Collaborating with SACE content and communications teams to create content appropriate for various audiences and applicable to various platforms and narrative goals.
  • Collaborating with ally organizations on storytelling campaign strategies.
  • Collaborating with SACE staff to draft new content or edit staff-written content.
  • Assist in editing blogs and web content.
  • Assisting with general content editing as needed across the organization, especially with regard to emphasizing success stories.
  • Integrating solutions-oriented factual storytelling with SACE’s existing Clean Energy Generation campaign and other campaigns to amplify the local, state, and regional success stories
  • Other duties as assigned. 

This is a full-time position based in the Southeast United States. This position will focus regionally across Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The Creative Content Manager will report to SACE’s Sr. Development & Content Manager.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing skills. This position requires a creative and equally critical eye for crafting well-written, compelling content that delivers clear narratives to a variety of target audiences Close attention to copywriting, editing, and factual details is critically important.
  • Ability to absorb information quickly and in a variety of forms (written, spoken, experienced)
  • Solutions-focused and adaptable
  • Ability to learn quickly and distill technical or complex information into accurate, concise and compelling copy in a consistent, branded ‘voice’ for a variety of readers and audiences.
  • Experience working in WordPress and in Google Suite.
  • Experience both crafting original content AND editing a variety of content (various lengths and depths; technical content as well as conversational)
  • Comfortable working remotely/virtually both in collaboration with others as well as independently
  • Able to multitask and consistently meet deadlines on both long- and short-term goals
  • Commitment to advancing clean energy policy
  • Committed to accuracy and relationship follow-through

Preferred 

  • Experience working in a non-profit and/or advocacy organization 
  • Familiarity with the federal funding landscape (especially Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL))
  • Familiarity with Southeastern communities, culture, and geography
  • Experience with content development specific to a website
  • Multi-lingual a plus but not required
  • Able to travel for short periods of time within the Southeast if necessary
  • Comfortable reaching out to community members and various audiences in an appropriate manner in order to gather storytelling content
  • Solutions-focused and adaptable

A passion for clean energy, environmental, climate, and public interest issues is essential for understanding and conveying SACE’s unique multi-program focus (electric transportation, solar and wind, energy efficiency, utility decarbonization, and environmental justice.)
