Cody Burchett began working with SACE in November of 2017 as a Development Assistant in Asheville, North Carolina. Cody’s role includes maintaining stewardship and correspondence to SACE members by maintaining SACE’s outreach database and systemizing grant records. Cody earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina with a concentration in Professional Writing and a minor in History. Since graduation, Cody has worked as an Editorial Assistant for The Appalachian Voice, an environmental non-profit bi-monthly publication addressing issues and concerns affecting local communities such as defending the land, air and water of our region while promoting energy efficiency, solar and wind power, and other economic solutions that create community wealth and sustain Appalachia’s mountain’s, forests, and waters. There, Cody wrote and edited articles for submission as well as conducted interviews and data research for analyzing issues and threats facing the Appalachian region, thus seasoning his writing abilities. Since then, Cody has worked as a Sous Chef in Asheville, NC at Bun Intended as well as numerous fine dining settings across western North Carolina such as Artisanal in Banner Elk, NC to further enhance his love of cooking.
