For this webinar, Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) Senior Energy Analyst John Rogers will discuss the most recent report from the Energy and Water in a Warming World Initiative (EW3), “Freshwater Use by U.S. Power Plants: Electricity’s Thirst for A Precious Resource.”Water conflicts abound today. Power plants, by drawing water from lakesand rivers for cooling, are contributing to this water stress, including here in the Southeast. As our region’s demand for electricity and water increases, the water dependence of many power plants puts water resources, competing water users and power plants themselves at growing risk.
