AARP Florida and a bipartisan group of state and city elected officials held a telepress conference on October 3 to urge the Florida Supreme Court to overturn the state’s widely criticized “nuclear cost recovery” payment scheme that is forcing elderly and other ratepayers in the state to pay for cost-prohibitive nuclear reactors that may never be built. In addition to these stakeholder who have filed ‘friends of the court’ briefs in support of SACE’s lawsuit, SACE attorney George Cavros participated in this teleconference to help explain why this hugely controversial advance-payment “nuclear tax” system burdens rate payers and consumers in Florida.
