PRESS CONFERENCE: Local elected officials to discuss electric vehicle policy in Florida, ride and drive event to follow

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Congressman Charlie Crist and other local elected officials, including Pinellas County Commissioner Janet LongSt. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, and Largo Mayor Woody Brown, will hold a press conference Monday, July 29, at 10 a.m. to discuss the important role electric vehicles play in the transition to clean transportation and what they are doing to advance electric vehicle policies in Florida.

Immediately following the press conference, officials and other attendees will have the opportunity to test drive a Nissan LEAF hatchback, a Tesla Model 3 sedan or a custom-wrapped Tesla Model X and experience what it’s like to drive electric as a part of nonprofit advocacy organization Southern Alliance for Clean Energy’s new Driving on Sunshine electric vehicle roadshow. The roadshow officially launched earlier this month and is touring the Sunshine State, offering free electric vehicle ride and drive events to educate Floridians about the benefits of electric vehicles for drivers, the environment and public health.

Attendees can also view an electric bus from the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA).
