Knoxville, Tenn. (January 26, 2009) – As the leading voice of renewable energy issues in the Southeast, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy has officially launched a new multidimensional Web site, created to enhance communication between diverse audiences. Visit www.cleanenergy.org to see this newly designed communication tool providing up-to-date information about energy news in the Southeast.

“This unique Web site provides opportunities for residents throughout the Southeast to influence the energy revolution SACE is calling for,” said Stephen A. Smith, executive director for the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy. “While our nation and our world face great challenges surrounding how we produce and consume energy, this Web site will provide insight into the solutions we need, such as energy efficiency techniques, renewable energy and smart grid technologies.”

Within the new site, visitors have an opportunity to “Calculate your Impact,” or “Take Action,” two areas which provide users the chance to directly affect the issues they care about. And because SACE provides solutions in five key states – North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee – a custom web page has been created for each of these areas to help residents track important environmental developments near their home.

A few of the new innovative areas of the Web site include: Take Action: This proactive section provides insight into multiple initiatives, including global warming, campus work and energy efficiency, giving staff the opportunity to speak directly to residents about actions they can take to influence a cleaner environment. Tips to “write your rep” and congressional contact information is provided as well. Learn section: Right now, this area offers a variety of articles regarding clean fuels, purchasing green power and greening the home. Visitors can learn how to increase their MPG through changing driving habits or read about renewable fuels. This area will be changed periodically to provide insight into new greening topics. Multimedia: Through podcasts, webinars and videos, new environmental ideas and stories will be shared through these unique mediums. News and Reports: Acting as a compilation room for fact sheets, reports, action alerts and a press room, this important area is where concerned citizens, media and politicians can go for up-to-date news.

The official launch of this newly designed site will be publicized to all audiences, Tuesday, January 27. Visit www.cleanenergy.org today. # # #
