SACE & Former TVA Board Chairman Discuss Watts Bar
On Thursday, April 26, 2012 Former TVA Board Member S. David Freeman and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy Executive Director Dr. Stephen A. Smith held a telepress conference to comment on the decisions made during the TVA Board Meeting earlier the same morning. The board approved extending the construction schedule for the Watts Bar projects, estimating that the new reactor would not be completed until December 2015, three years behind schedule. They also approved TVA’s request for another $1.5 to $2 billion in construction costs, effectively doubling the original budget of this proposed reactor project.
