Clean Energy Advocates to Brief Florida Media on
Excessive FP&L and Progress Energy Nuclear Cost

Requests During Thursday Conference Call Tallahassee – The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is scheduled to hear requests from two Florida utilities – Progress Energy and Florida Power & Light – for permission to pass on to customers more than a half billion dollars in early expenses related to the construction of four planned nuclear reactors.

The PSC hearings, designed to test whether these early costs are prudent and fair, begin Sept. 8 and are expected to conclude Sept. 11.

Experts with the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and the Natural Resources Defense Council urge interested media, including editorial board writers and energy reporters, to join them in a conference call tomorrow to learn more about this – and other recent utility developments.
