Learn About Proposed Drilling in the Atlantic

The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is pleased to host the Southeast Coastal Climate Network’s (SECCN) webinar series. These webinars are your opportunity to learn about climate and energy issues that SECCN engages in everyday.

In January, the U.S. Department of Interior proposed opening the Atlantic Ocean off the Southeast coast to offshore drilling, even though offshore leases for oil and gas have not been granted in over 30 years and there has never been commercial discovery of oil or gas off our coast. The proposal is highly problematic due to the numerous environmental and economic impacts that offshore drilling and exploration would mean for our region. On this webinar, we will be joined by Nancy Pyne from Oceana to discuss the details of what this new proposal means for the Southeast coast and how you can help oppose it.
