Guest Blog | March 4, 2009 | Position Statements

This congressional briefing, presented on March 4, 2009, by John Bonitz, Farm Outreach and Policy Advocate for SACE, asserts that renewable biomass harvested from sustainably managed forests has the potential to be an important contributor to a national Renewable Energy Standard (RES), complementing other forms of renewable power and forming part of a robust, holistic strategy for addressing climate change and building a sustainable, clean energy economy. This briefing was one of a panel of four organized by the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI). A description of the full panel, other presenters’ slides, and a full videotape can be found here: http://www.eesi.org/030409_forest_biomassSACE_Biopower_Briefing_030409.pdf
