ADVISORY: New Study to Reveal Steady Increase in TVA’s Residential Rates While Industrial Customers Get Huge Break

Knoxville, Tenn. – Tomorrow, on Tuesday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. ET/ 10:00 a.m. CT, researchers and advocates will hold a tele-press conference to discuss findings from a new report that reveals a massive cost shift from Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) industrial customers onto its residential and small business customers over the last six years.
Report authors from Synapse Energy Economics, and advocates from Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE), Tennessee State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and Friends of the Earth (FOE), will present data demonstrating how the Tennessee Valley Authority’s industrial and direct serve customers have benefitted from a nearly 20 percent cut in the price of energy, while residential customers have experienced steady rate increases over the last few years.
