Advisory: Metro Atlanta Celebrates National Drive Electric Week at Avalon

Atlanta, Ga. Public officials, business leaders, the electric vehicle industry and environmental groups will join together to highlight the benefits of electric vehicles (EV) in celebration of National Drive Electric Week on September 9, 2017. Atlanta’s premier EV event will highlight the fun, clean-air benefits, and cost-savings of electric cars. The event is part of the seventh annual National Drive Electric Week, a weeklong celebration of the benefits of electric vehicles.
This year, the 2018 second-generation Nissan LEAF will be on display – the only National Drive Electric Week event in the Southeast to display this new car. New technology means that the Nissan LEAF, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, now boasts a 40 percent increase in driving range to an estimated 162 miles on a full charge. Be the first to see this revolutionary new electric vehicle on display.
Cars, trucks and buses are now the number one source of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States. Electric vehicles are a cleaner option that will significantly reduce these emissions over time. Metro Atlanta has been a national leader in growing the number of EVs on the road, but the benefits extend far beyond urban areas. Charging infrastructure has been installed throughout the major transportation corridors in the state making travel in an EV more accessible. EVs not only reduce emissions, but they also save drivers money and enhance local economic development.
WHAT: Display of more than 40 electric vehicles (EV) on Avalon Boulevard, with the all –new 2018 Nissan LEAF with an estimated range of 162 miles. Representatives from Georgia Power, Hannah Solar, Metro Plug-In, EV Club of the South, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Clean Cities-Georgia, Sierra Club-Georgia Chapter will also be on hand to answer questions about EVs and charging around the state.
