Whites Creek High School Solar Project Ribbon Cutting
- This event has passed.
April 11, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeThe Academy of Alternative Energy, Sustainability and Logistics at Whites Creek High School invites the community to help students celebrate the ribbon cutting of their first solar installation. This was a student-led project with advisement from Energy Electives LLC. A curriculum is being developed to enhance future designs. The students look forward to more hands-on opportunities.
This project shows that communities on the frontlines of climate change, once educated, will be motivated to invest resources in renewable energy, like solar PV, as a solution that can also address issues such as the lack of entrepreneurship, sustainable economic development and energy equity. Adopting better policy toward increasing solar PV in the Southeast region – and Tennessee in particular, with its paltry use of solar power (0.3%) – is essential. We believe Tennessee must reclaim its status as a solar leader in the Southeast to meet the challenges we face in preserving our natural resources and making the health and well-being of every citizen a priority.
Refreshments from 9:30 – 10:00
