WHY IS THIS RACE SO IMPORTANT?
————————————-
The five Public Service Commissioners set electricity rates that directly affect Georgia families and businesses. They also determine what resources (coal, fossil gas, solar, etc.) public utilities can use to produce energy to serve all of us.

The many organizations sponsoring this virtual Town Hall are concerned about Georgia’s ability to attract and retain new businesses and talent in the highly competitive U.S. economy. High energy bills and low investment in energy efficiency affect business profitability and stymie the growth of high-paying jobs sorely needed by our state’s families.

In addition, the increasing intensity and frequency of storms and other natural disasters highlight the need for Georgia to diversify its energy generation in order to be reliable, resilient, and cost-effective.
