Georgia: Speak up to say #NoFeeHike!
- This event has passed.
September 30, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Georgia Power has proposed to nearly double the hidden, mandatory monthly fee on residential customers’ bill, from the current $10 to $17.95 a month. That means you would pay at least $215 per year before even flipping on a light switch –– no matter how much or how little energy you use.
Join us as we gather to tell the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), Georgia Power’s regulatory body, #NoFeeHike! Public comments on Georgia Power’s proposal will begin at 9 am on Monday Sept.30. at the PSC building in Atlanta (244 Washington Street, SW, Atlanta GA, 30334). Watch the LIVESTREAM: https://livestream.com/psc.
9 am is the official start time, but make sure to get there early to secure a speaking slot. There will be a sign in sheet for people who want to speak. Plan on speaking no more than a couple minutes and make sure to tell your personal story why YOU are opposed to the fee hike and how YOU would be impacted.
After the PSC hearing, we’ll be rallying with other Georgian’s and a diverse coalition of local organizations on Monday, Sept. 30 from 4-6 pm, across the street from the PSC building (244 Washington Street, SW, Atlanta GA, 30334). Let’s come together and tell the PSC: “No fee hike!” Details on the rally are here.
Can’t make it to the events on Monday? We’ve got you covered. Just take a minute to use the online form here to tell the PSC why you are opposed to the fee hike. Learn more about the fee hike here.
