Southeast Film Tour Tells Offshore Driling Shore Stories

Guest Blog | April 8, 2016 | Energy Policy, Offshore Drilling

The following guest post is from SACE’s partner group Working Films, a national nonprofit that uses documentary media to advance social justice and environmental sustainability. The post originally appeared on Working Films’ blog here. SACE is pleased to be an organizing partner for some of the film  screenings listed below.

For months, people on the East Coast have been fighting a proposal to open the east coast to offshore oil and gas drilling. Now we’ve won. The Atlantic has been taken out of the federal proposal for new offshore oil and gas leases. It’s time to celebrate a win for people power and stay engaged in the longterm work of protecting the oceans.

Join us to watch Shore Stories – a new series of six short films that show the powerful organizing that led to this victory. The series explains the dangers we have been working to prevent, and highlights issues we still need to come together to stop (like seismic testing).

Thank the decision makers and coastal communities for standing with us to protect the coast, and learn more about how to stay plugged into the movement and stand in solidarity with others working on these issues around the globe!

The following are event dates and times confirmed so far. Check back often to Working Films’ blog post for new screenings.
