Guest Blog | November 14, 2011 | Clean Transportation

As part of Southern Alliance for Clean Energy’s ongoing outreach on electric vehicles, we want to alert you to another opportunity to learn the who, what and how of electric vehicles and take a test drive–Ford’s Power of Choice Tour.

The tour is happening nationwide and is designed to profile Ford’s most fuel efficient and electric vehicles, including the Focus Electric, Transit Connect, Fusion Hybrid, Fiesta, and the Explorer Ecoboost.  Ford has a host of new, fuel efficient vehicles coming out in the next year so keep watching.

There are just a two tour dates left here in the Southeast.  Click here for more details on these events and for a full listing of the tour:

•          Tuesday, November 15: Wilmington, NC
•          Thursday, November 17 – Saturday, November 19: Charlotte

Ford is one of many manufacturers that has recently made commitments to transition a percentage of their fleets to electric. Their goal is for hybrid and electric vehicles to make up 10% to 25% of their fleet by 2020, with hybrids making up about 70% of that share.  Currently hybrids make up only 1% of Ford’s fleet, with an estimated 2 million vehicles in the U.S. last year.

While the U.S. has a long way to go in reducing our nations oil imports and use, it’s exciting to see a broader range of options for consumers. It’s been a long time coming.  Please check out the tour and learn more about the range of more fuel efficient and electric vehicles available today.
