If you are able to enjoy an extra day with friends and family for Memorial Day, please remember the fallen men and women of the armed forces. We are indebted to their sacrifice in protecting our nation. If you are traveling, we wish you a safe journey and hope those miles are in an electric vehicle,  lessening our dependence on oil!

Below is a our weekly EV roundup newsletter that we will begin to also offer through our blog. We hope you will find the information valuable.

This has been a busy week in the EV world with many responses to the op-ed that POLITICO ran questioning the environmental benefit of electric vehicles (EVs). Many of our partners have responded correcting the misinformation by the author who is trying to fain concern for climate change when he is a documented climate denier.

In related news, oil giant BP has come to terms with the idea that peak oil demand is happening and is investing millions in EV battery company StoreDot as part of their electrification strategy. Additionally, the city of San Francisco is moving to an all-electric bus fleet by 2035. To reach that goal, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) will be exclusively purchasing electric buses by 2025.

Closer to home, EV drivers in North Carolina and Florida will find additional places to plug in, coming soon.  Wilmington, NC announced upgrades to the Market Street stations and additional charging at the 2nd Street garage.  Meanwhile, Simon Malls are adding in stations and one will be the Florida Mall in Orlando!

For a fun read, check out “How To Make Electric Cars Profitable As Tesla, GM Look To Build Millions”.  This comprehensive article looks at industry growth, industry analysis, battery costs, powertrain savings, mandates, and fleets.

Finally, a big kudos to Prince Harry and his bride, Meghan Markle. Their first act together as husband and wife was to show the world how eco-conscious and hip they are by riding off in a classic 1968 E-Type convertible Jaguar that was given an electric transformation.  Wishing them a lifetime of happiness!
