Calling all coast lovers… you are invited to stand with your community to protect our coast from the impacts of offshore drilling on Saturday, May 18 at locations all around the country.

These events will take place as part of the 10th annual Hands Across the Sand day of action. Hands Across the Sand is a simple yet powerful event at which people gather at their local beach and briefly join hands to form as long of a line as possible to declare the message of  “NO to offshore drilling; YES to clean energy.”

SACE has been a proud sponsor of Hands Across the Sand since its beginning in 2010, and since then we have consistently seen the threat of drilling come and go consistently year by year. Right now, the Southeast is in the crosshairs of the Trump Administration’s proposed offshore drilling plan, with the entire Atlantic and Gulf coasts being slated for drilling and seismic blasting permits on the verge of being approved from Florida to Delaware.

With these imminent threats, it is important that coastal residents stand up and speak out to protect our coast. By uniting in opposition against drilling just a few years ago, citizens defeated the Obama Administration’s drilling efforts; now we must continue to demonstrate to our elected officials that our coast is not for sale.
