Regional Campus Field Coordinator

Join The Southern Energy Network (SEN), fiscally sponsored by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, fighting global warming and supporting student and youth climate and energy work in the Southeast. SEN is looking for an experienced organizer and manager to take on the role of coordinating our field organizing for clean energy around the Southeast.  The Regional Field Coordinator is responsible for managing our field work around the Southeast.  This includes coordinating five field organizers in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee and work around the following exciting campaigns and initiatives: Power Vote, green jobs, fighting new coal and nuclear plants, Power Shift 2009, supporting campus initiatives and state youth networks.  It also includes representing our organization within the EAC and working on many of the campaigns and initiatives listed above at a national level in collaboration with our Energy Action Coalition partner organizations, and working with SEN’s Regional Director on regional program work as needed.  This exciting position is fast-paced position and offers countless opportunities for skill building and development and is highly personally rewarding.

Georgia Coal Organizer
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy is seeking a qualified individual who can play a leadership role in helping mobilize citizen activists and public opinion in support of clean energy and preventing coal power plants in Georgia through electronic communications, media outreach, grassroots organizing, and other various public outreach opportunities.

The organizer will provide strategic direction and implementation while working directly with Southern Alliance for Clean Energy staff and partner organizations. As part of a team, the organizer will help develop a campaign that will sustain and build a community of support for clean energy alternatives as well as help foster relationships between consumers and key political leaders for the purpose of building grassroots strength and organizational success in specific areas of the state.

Campus Clean Energy Campaign Intern
Campus Clean Energy Intern
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is accepting applications for a University/ College Program Intern for placement in our Knoxville office. Potential intern responsibilities include:

- Assisting staff with research and outreach to colleges and universities across the state/ region

- Arranging campus presentations for the education of students, faculty, staff, and administrators with regards to the importance of clean energy technologies.

- Assisting staff with outreach, follow-up, and materials development for our local biodiesel program

- Participating in conference calls, list-serve and blog discussions

- Publicizing the efforts of university initiatives within local and regional media.

Position hours:
* Hours per week: 10 -20
* Number of weeks: 12 -16

Web Site Assistant
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is accepting applications for a Web Site Intern. The Intern position is flexible and is based in Asheville, NC. The Intern will be responsible for:
  • Working with SACE's current web maintenance consultant to update the site regularly
  • Routinely review the website for typos, necessary updates, enhancements
  • Communicating to SACE staff certain web-related needs and updates
  • Drafting web-ready documents and language to post on the site
  • Identifying photos and images for use in issue-related areas of the site
Primary activities will include routine calls with Southern Alliance for Clean Energy web supervisor, weekly updates of related material, learning the back-end web system to develop new areas for information, creating archives, and other related duties as necessary.

Position hours:
* 5-10 per week
* Number of weeks: Flexible

Communications Intern
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is accepting applications for a communications intern for placement in our Asheville office. The intern will be responsible for:
  • Tracking and managing articles that mention Southern Alliance for Clean Energy or relevant subject matter.
  • Assist the communications director in writing communications to our members and supporters including our monthly on-line newsletter, quarterly hard copy newsletter, and periodic action alerts.
Position hours:
* 5-10 per week
* Number of Weeks: Flexible

Applicants should have strong writing skills and excellent grammar. An interest in public relations, journalism, and/or public outreach is recommended. Layout experience a plus. 


Energy/Environmental Intern
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy is accepting applications for an Energy / Environmental Intern for placement in our Atlanta or Savannah offices. The Intern will be responsible for:
  • Researching and compiling documentation on water quality concerns
  • Researching agricultural, biomass, and hydrogen production opportunities
  • Preparing materials and presentations for organizational program areas
  • Providing administrative assistance
  • Working under the supervision of the Safe Energy Director
Primary activities will focus on collecting and compiling research information for program areas and developing related educational materials. SACE will provide pertinent training as needed.

Position hours:
* Approximately 20 hours per week
* Approximately 12 weeks
* possible flexibility on number of hours and weeks

Applicants should have excellent writing skills, strong computer skills, experience with research, demonstrate an ability to develop professional presentations (such as PowerPoint), and a commitment to health and environmental protection. Position available immediately. 


Solar Technology and Outreach
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is accepting applications for a Solar Technology Intern for placement in our Knoxville office. The Intern will be responsible for:
  • Helping organize the Tennessee Solar Building Tours (during October)
  • Helping with our coalition work to develop Zero Energy Houses with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
  • Working on media promotion and technical seminars for the Generation Partners program
For candidates with the desire to really learn the ins and outs of the solar energy industry several advanced projects are available working on state policy and education.

Position hours:
* 4-20 hours a week (flexible depending on the needs of the Intern)
* Must be willing to make a regular schedule

Graphics Design Intern
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is accepting applications for a Graphics Design Specialist Intern for placement in our Atlanta office. The Intern will be responsible for:
  • Upgrading public education materials
  • Working with Power Point and Word documents
Position hours:
* 2-5 hours per week for 3 weeks

Applicants should have excellent graphics design skills, strong computer skills, and attention to detail. Position available immediately.
